Captain Shubhanshu Shukla : As India prepares for Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla’s launch to space aboard the Axiom‑4 mission, his family is brimming with pride and emotion. The veteran pilot will blast off from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, making him the latest Indian to journey to space.
“He is bringing laurels to Lucknow, and to the country”
Shubhanshu Shukla’s father, Shambhu Dayal Shukla, expressed how proud and excited the family feels.
“We are very eager to witness the launch. We are delighted, and our blessings are with him for the successful completion of the mission. He is fully prepared for this. It feels great to see his posters everywhere — he is making Lucknow, the state, and the country proud,” he said while speaking with news agency ANI.
“We owe this moment to his wife”
Shubhanshu’s mother, Asha Shukla, credited the family’s daughter‑in‑law for supporting him throughout this journey.
“It is a moment of pride for all of us. Everywhere we look, we see his posters, and everyone is delighted that a person from Triveni Nagar is going to soar so high. We send all our wishes and blessings for the mission.
He has all the support of our daughter‑in‑law — this would not have been possible without her. She has played the biggest role in making this happen,” Asha Shukla said.
A Mission That Will Make History
The Axiom‑4 mission is scheduled for launch at 2:31 a.m. EDT (12 p.m. IST) on Wednesday from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The crew, led by Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, will travel to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft, launched atop a Falcon 9 rocket.Docking at the orbiting laboratory is targeted for approximately 7 a.m. EDT (4 p.m. IST) on Thursday.
